i think actually the key to successfully doing tumblr (and especially doing fandom on tumblr) is realising that your blog is your little house and you can post about whatever you like there. once you realise you are just living in and decorating your very own silly little online house you start focusing on what makes you happy rather than constantly performing for & compromising your tastes for & placing all your self worth on little scraps of clout, and you will be a lot happier for it

Rainbow flag colorpicked from the original 1978 flag <3

this is my favorite of all the rainbow flags because a) the stripes mean things: sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, harmony, and spirit. Sex (hot pink) and magic (turquoise) were more difficult colors to get which is why the standard flag is six colors, but those are my favorite colors! Both as colors and as meanings!

and b) we know for a stone cold fact that Gilbert Baker meant this flag to be for Everybody In The Family, which has gotten a little lost in the emphasis on individual flags for different identities, to the point where some people are starting to think the six-color rainbow is only for gay men

anyway thank you this was nice to see on a Monday, hello beautiful

Quick reminder that July is disability pride month. Not “gay wrath month”.

When ableism is a massive issue in the queer community and most pride events aren’t accessible maybe y’all should. Idk. Try a bit fucking harder to educate urselves this July.

Along with other recent finds from Africa, it suggests that mosasaurs and other marine reptiles were evolving rapidly up until 66 million years ago, when they were wiped out by an asteroid along with the dinosaurs and around 90% of all species on Earth.

The new species, Stelladens mysteriosus, comes from the Late Cretaceous of Morocco and was around twice the size of a dolphin.

It had a unique tooth arrangement with blade-like ridges running down the teeth, arranged in a star-shaped pattern, reminiscent of a cross-head screwdriver.

Most mosasaurs had two bladelike, serrated ridges on the front and back of the tooth to help cut prey, however Stelladens had anywhere from four to six of these blades running down the tooth.

“It’s a surprise,” said Dr. Nick Longrich from the Milner Center for Evolution at the University of Bath, who led the study. “It’s not like any mosasaur, or any reptile, even any vertebrate we’ve seen before.”

I love how we all pretend Gwen was the cool suave one in ITSV as if she didn’t introduce herself as “GwaaaaaaaGwanda. My names gwanda. It’s African.” [realizes she is the whitest person to ever white] “I’m South African! I’m from. South Africa. Haha lol.” and then proceeds to lie so horribly that the only reason Miles didn’t catch onto her shit is because he was preoccupied with grabbing her shoulder in the world’s least smooth flirting move and then ripping her hair out

one time a casual hockey fan tried to convey this experience to me from the other side as: “it’s like… okay, imagine that you like donuts, and you meet a guy who also likes donuts, and you’re like, hey, cool, we both like donuts! but this guy… he built his house out of donuts

so now when I trip into a new fandom I’m like “oh shit I’m building this house out of donuts”
